Stay Connected from Home: Remote Hearing Care with Signia & Rexton Hearing Aids
A Modern Way to Hear Better
Congratulations on choosing Signia or Rexton hearing aids! You’re taking a meaningful step toward better hearing health. Thanks to remote technology, you don’t need to leave home to receive professional support.
With the Signia app or Rexton App, you can connect virtually with your hearing care professional for real-time adjustments and guidance. This telehealth capability empowers you to maintain optimal hearing conveniently and safely.
Compatibility: Which Signia and Rexton Hearing Aids Support Telehealth?
Telehealth is supported across a wide range of Signia and Rexton hearing aid models that are equipped with Bluetooth connectivity. This includes:
- RIC (Receiver-in-Canal) models: Most RICs such as Signia Pure Charge&Go AX/IX or Rexton BiCore/Reach RICs support remote programming.
- BTE (Behind-the-Ear) models: BTE aids like Signia Motion Charge&Go AX/IX and Rexton BiCore/Rugged BTEs also support remote sessions.
- Custom rechargeable ITE (In-the-Ear) and half-shell models: Many custom Signia and Rexton devices with Bluetooth offer telehealth compatibility. Such as the Insio rechargeable option. The issue with remote care for the custom is that you need to get an impression of your ear and remote images are not quite available yet.
- CIC (Completely-in-Canal) and non-wireless models: These do not support remote programming, as they lack Bluetooth connectivity and app pairing features.
Important: To use telehealth features, your devices must support Signia and Rexton TeleCare (available in many later-generation hearing aids). Ask your provider to confirm compatibility if you’re unsure.
Start with signing up with your Provider for Remote care
While many providers may offer tweaks to your current technology at no charge, most professionals will charge a fee for remote care. To get remote care, your hearing aids need to be paired and registered to the professional’s software system first.
Getting Started with the Signia App
To enable remote support, download the Signia and or Rexton app (used for both Signia and Rexton aids):
- Available for iOS (version 9.3 or higher) via the Apple App Store
- Available for Android (version 5.0 or higher) via Google Play Store
Our Professionals will help guide you through setup:
- If you’re located in Minnesota, we will register you in our system. If you are working with one of our providers, they will register you in their system. If you have a pair that you want us to work with, you will need to send us your aids to sync them with our system so that we can set you up.
- Once registered, the system will prompt a text message with a download link and a unique code to your phone.
- This setup is often completed at your initial in-office fitting. Even if it isn’t at your initial fitting, this provider may set you up without your hearing aids in the clinic, usually.
- Our professionals can help you pair your hearing aids with the Signia app and your smartphone.
If you live outside of Minnesota, we are happy to assist remotely or refer you to a trusted provider near you.
What You’ll Need for Remote Appointments
To ensure a smooth and successful telehealth visit:
- A reliable internet connection or strong Wi-Fi
- A smartphone or tablet with the Signia app installed
- A headset for clear audio (optional but helpful)
- A working microphone (smartphone mic is usually sufficient)
- If using a computer, a webcam is recommended
How the Remote Session Works
Once your hearing aids are paired with the Signia app, you’re ready for your remote appointment.
- At the beginning of your scheduled session, a pop-up window will appear in the Signia app requesting permission for your provider to connect.
- Tap “OK” to allow access.
- Your hearing care professional will then make live adjustments to your hearing aids in real-time.
This process gives you access to expert-level support, fine-tuning, and troubleshooting without needing to visit the clinic. This makes for a more affordable service call and accessible as you don’t have to come to a location. Affordable sessions are often unbundled and can be paid for as needed. Insurance companies do not pay for telehealth services at this point (May 2025).
More Than Just Adjustments: Features of the Signia App
The Signia app offers tools that extend beyond remote programming:
- Hearing Exercises & Lessons: Practice listening in different environments (e.g., conversations, background noise, group settings).
- Mask Mode: Boosts speech frequencies to compensate for muffled speech when people wear masks. This is the only company that has such a wonderful feature and helped many people during COVID 19 outbreak.
- Health Tracking: Newer app versions include features that track steps taken, hearing activity, and engagement in conversations.
- Flexible Revisit Options: Hearing lessons and settings can be revisited at any time.
These features are especially helpful if you’re new to hearing aids or exploring different listening environments.
