Hear from Home: How to Use Widex Remote Care for Easy, Cozy Checkups

Widex Moment Sheer Remote Link

Can Widex’s Moment Hearing Aid Remote Care Help You at Home?

So you’ve made the investment in better hearing with Widex’s Moment or Moment Sheer hearing aids! You’re enjoying clearer sound, but you also know that hearing success is an ongoing journey. The next question is: Can your follow-up care be managed from the comfort of your own home?

For many, traveling to a clinic can be difficult due to distance, health concerns, weather, or scheduling. Fortunately, Widex’s Remote Care technology offers a way to connect with your hearing care provider virtually.

Let’s walk through how Widex Remote Care works, what you’ll need, and what to expect during your telehealth appointments. Let’s start first with if your Widex hearing aid will work with the remote link.

Is Your Widex Device Telehealth Compatible?

The Widex Moment and Moment Sheer RIC and BTE hearing aids are compatible with remote programming through the Widex Remote Link system. However, it’s important to note that Widex’s newest hearing aid, the Allure, does not support telehealth. If you own the Allure model, remote adjustments will not be available and you’ll need to visit a provider in person. If this isn’t possible for you, you may want to rethink purchasing the Allure model.

What You’ll Need for Remote Fittings

To participate in remote hearing care sessions with your Widex Moment or Moment Sheer BTE or RIC devices, you’ll need the following:

If you didn’t receive a Remote Link when you purchased your hearing aids, you can buy one separately. Be sure to confirm that your chosen provider offers Widex Remote Care services, as not all clinics do.

Getting Set Up for Telehealth

Option 1: Set Up In-Person

If you are able to visit a hearing clinic (such as those affiliated with Hears Hearing & Hearables), your provider can help you:

  • Register the Remote Link
  • Download and set up the app on your phone
  • Pair you Remote Link to your hearing aids
  • Guide you through a test remote session if needed

Option 2: Set Up Remotely

If visiting a clinic isn’t feasible, remote setup is possible:

  • Contact your provider and let them know you are interested in telehealth with your Widex device.
  • You will need to send in your hearing aids to them.
  • Your provider will order up a Remote Link for you and once they get your hearing aids, they will pair the remote link to your hearing aids via their software.
  • The provider will then ship your hearing aids and new Remote Link back to you.
  • Once received, download the Widex Remote Care and follow instructions to connect the Remote Link.
  • Schedule your appointment!

Note: The Remote Link device includes a neck loop and does not need to be paired with your smartphone it connects through its own unique system. It pairs to the app!

How a Remote Appointment Works

Before your scheduled appointment:

  • Charge your hearing aids, phone, and Remote Link device.
  • Wear the Remote Link around your neck.
  • Open the Remote Care app and select “Join Meeting”.

Once connected, your hearing care provider will be able to:

  • Adjust amplification or fine-tune your hearing aid programs
  • Reduce feedback or unwanted noise
  • Add, remove, or modify listening environments
  • Monitor performance and even detect if your aids may need repair

After adjustments are complete, your provider will end the session to ensure all changes are saved properly.
